POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
LIMITATIONS OF WORK
We will prepare income tax returns based on information that you provide us. We will perform
accounting services only as needed to prepare your tax returns. Our work is not designed to
discover defalcations or other irregularities, should any exist. We will use our judgment in
resolving questions where the tax law is unclear, or where there may be conflicts between the
taxing authorities’ interpretations of the law and other supportable positions. Unless otherwise
instructed by you, we will resolve such questions in your favor whenever possible.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You are responsible for providing required tax documents and other information that may be
requested. We will depend on you to provide the information needed to prepare complete and
accurate returns. We may ask you to clarify some items but will not audit or otherwise verify the
data you submit. Review all tax-return documents carefully before signing them.
AUDIT
Your returns may be selected for review or audit for any reason by the Internal Revenue Service
(IRS), California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) or other related taxing authority. In the event of an
audit or review, you will be responsible to provide documentation for all items in question to the
taxing authority. It is your responsibility to provide/obtain any and all documentation that
supports your tax position.
ADJUSTMENT OF YOUR TAX RETURN BY TAXING AUTHORITY
In the event that you receive any correspondence form a taxing authority regarding a proposed
adjustment to your income tax returns, please promptly forward ALL related documentation so
that we may review and investigate the adjustment. While we are more than willing to assist you
in the resolution of such proposed adjustments, additional fees may be incurred depending on the
appropriate response to said correspondence.
COPIES OF YOUR TAX RETURNS
You will be provided a paper copy of your income tax returns. Additional or digital copies may
be subject to a $25.00 fee. We will store your tax records for a period of up to 5 years. After
said time period, it may be necessary for you to directly contact the taxing authority to retrieve
copies of your returns.
– Please ask if you have any questions regarding the foregoing.
